"Favourite" artist

Sorry for the delay, but I just got my driver license this morning haha. So... favourite artist, i don't really have one since i have a big heart for a lot of them. Between Muse, Radiohead, Coldplay, Arctic monkeys and even some metal bands from my childhood, it is my duty to talk about newcomers, so I introduce you all to “Nothing but Thieves”. 

An English rock band ( mostly alternative rock and electronic rock)  who likes to explore all kinds of styles in the rock genre. They only have 2 albums, and the last one, “Broken machine” just got out September 8th of this year. Well, their style is very experimental while the instruments: guitars, bass and drums (and some synths in between) are played in a very simple way (especially the drums). The combination of that simplicity, plus the experimental thing, PLUS THE VOCALS!!!! GOD THEY’RE AMAZING, made them great to listen. Well, the lyrics are very variant, but the core is always free will agaisnt a social structure, just like the song “broken machine” from the homonym album, “Excuse me” and “i was just a kid” are 2 other examples.

I like them since 2016, when i listen to the song “Ban all the music” from their 1st álbum (released on 2015) on spotify, and i love it on the 1st listen. I like it because of the crazyness of the song, the part when Connor sang: “Play an ilegal song, and turn it up out louder!” with that beautiful falsetto it’s… explosive and cathartic.

blog 3: dark past, funny stories

 So this time i'm going to talk about a funny anecdote of my school life, NOT my university life which has more interesting ones haha maybe another time. Ok so i was 13 years old and every year we have the alliances, to celebrate the anniversary of the school. And this time they were pretty boring, specially for the man (u know, were also in the "edad del pavo" thing). It was only 3 days of playing football and table games for me, which i regret a bit right now because on my last years of school  i did a lot for the anniversary (as i said, "edad del pavo") .So, on the last day i remember that my multiplayer membership on my xbox was about to expire, (a membership that allows people to play on the internet, and it's not free :c) so me and my very good friend Tom wanted to play Halo 3 (never liked it, but it has fun multiplayer) so we decided to escape.

We thought of jumping the gates from the back of my school. So we gave our bags to one of my classmates and told him to throw it to us once me and my friend jump the gates. It was our first time escaping, so we did it, WE JUMP! It took forever in our minds, but we were on the street, free from the school and Halo 3 was so close, we were just waiting for our classmate to throw the bags to our side. He was taking too long, so we look on a hole on the gates and… he was paying like 5 kids to keep their mouth shut after they seen us. My friend wanted to run anyways, but me, the stubborn 13 years old me, just stand there waiting. On the last second I thought “ok yeah, better run” but a teacher caught us both….

Yeah yeah, to the principals office, talk to our head teacher, all our classmates looking at us, our bags safe and sound on our classroom. But we f%$#”ng played Halo 3 after that on my house, and we enjoyed it. After that we have to talk to our parents :c.

 Next time you probably hear a more interesting anecdote, with the police and everything haha so see you around.

Blog 2: best concert: A rock band from England.

I've been in at least 7 or 8 concerts on the floor site (without sits) and I have fun in all of them, but there was a band known worldwide for their dynamic performance that could surpass the others. On October 15th, 2015 Muse played on Movistar Arena, Santiago, Chile and it was amazing. The trio from Devon, England were touring for their 7th album, "Drones" (but in the concert they play only 5 songs from the album :(, in other countries they perform almost the entire thing), which talks about humanity being controlled by machines and businessmen without us caring at all, until one person decides to revolt.



The Arena was full and the floor crowded, I went with 4 friends and we separate on the first 30 minutes. Fortunately, me and 1 of my friends manage to get to the front of the stage (or at least 2 rows of people before it) minutes before the first song started, so we saw the band very close. The place went crazy with the riffs and melodies, so much energy. The chilean crowds are known for that, just... being crazy. We jump in more that the half of the songs so that's the equivalent of 2 classes of sports (I wanted to believe that haha)



In one of their popular songs: Uprising, suddenly  giant balloons full with confetti (and air) appear from the ceiling, so we can push it whenever a balloon reach us, it was fun.

Me and my friends keep that hour and a half in our hearts and for me... hope I would go to one of their concerts in England (where they play more frequently of course) in a near future. Well if I'm there, I'll get a chance to see a lot of bands actually :). *Keep dreaming Cris, finish your career.*

Blog 1: A country I like to visit

No long ago I read about The Netherlands and its people. Their culture is very different from the rest of the world, in terms of not having a uniform national culture, but being influenced by their ethnic minorities and being open to other way of thinking. For example, they don't talk about their religion and impose their point of view, but they prefer to have more deeper conversations, like climate change or change policies to make things better.  It would be interesting to go and see that, 'cause in Chile we talk about this kind of stuff but we not practising that at all. The Dutch are known for their emphasis in diversity and critic view for politics. Isn't it part of what we need to do in this century?

 

I'm very attached to European architecture and this country is no exception, isn't it? (just look at the pictures!). It would be nice to take a nice walk for a day and talk to the Dutch people, maybe get involve in some activity, or whatever the day take me to. Personally, it would be just a trip to break the comfort zone, to know THAT culture that i mention, but i wouldn't do much than that. The dream to study in England stand still for me....
